The unrepentant Penang Umno warlord

Ahmad Ismail opts out of Bukit Bendera Umno contest

Joe: Did you read what the Ahmad Ismail said, "We have experienced the 'tsunami' in the last election, although my problem happened after that"?

The deep offence he had committed, for which he remains unrepentant, will contribute to another even bigger tsunami to come. Umno is going to pay for condoning a racist, and the roughneck is going to learn the Chinese saying: ‘A buffalo who knows nothing about a tiger!’

The electorate will remember the 'pendatang' slur and the ISA detention of the Sin Chew journalist. Umno should be made to bear the consequence of the actions of its politicians.

Ahmad Ismail was reported to have met Gerakan to pave the way for Umno, Gerakan and MCA to wrestle Penang back from Pakatan Rakyat. Let the rally cry go forth: 'A vote for BN is a vote for Umno - and all the injustice and excesses that it stands for!'

DOC: Ahmad Ismail may have tried to make fools out of MCA and Gerakan with his racist remarks. It looks like the fool is none other than Ahmad Ismail himself, now that his own party considered him a liability and has decided to sideline him. It looks like his political career is fading fast.

DontPlayGod: Don't be taken in by this. Remember, he said that he will remain as adviser to the Bukit Bendera division, which is another way of saying that he will still run his division as per his wishes. Being a warlord, he will still control Penang Umno.

Cala: As it turns out, after Ahmad Ismail had met PM Najib Razak several times over his likely return to helm Bukit Bendera division, the decision made by the latter was a "no" in view of the imminent GE. See how desperate Najib was?

But Ahmad Ismail was not remorseful about his earlier utterances demanding that Gerakan should leave BN. He was asked to go into self-exile for one year to lay the foundation for Gerakan/MCA. The crux of the matter is he is certainly not repenting.

Wira: I believe Ahmad Ismail is no longer interested in Bukit Bendera for the simple reason that this is a Chinese majority seat (including all three state seats within the constituency) and given his bigotry, he will never get to contest in any state or parliament seats in this constituency.

I believe, with his apparent conformance to 1Malaysia and support to the PM, he would be more interested in Kepala Batas (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's seat). Smart move, Ahmad.

Nicholas Lim: His own decision? He thinks we are all stupid?

Tmf: Let’s continue to boycott his ‘nasi kandar’ chain, petrol stations and all his other known business set-ups. Only then will he realise what bad behaviour he has been displaying in threatening racial harmony in this country.

Jiminy Qrikert: Ahmad Ismail says “I have also met Gerakan leaders and they have extended their support to me. They want to work with Umno again,..".

This is the man who called all Chinese Malaysians ‘pendatang’, insulted their Malaysian citizenship, whose supporters tore the picture of Koh Tsu Koon in a vigorous show of sabre-rattling and then insolently refused to apologise to fellow Malaysians he insulted. Now, he says Gerakan leaders are supporting him.

This only shows up Gerakan for the shameless fools they are - first insulted, then forced to accept a wrist slap on Ahmad by Umno, then insulted again when Ahmad was pardoned by Umno within one year of a three-year suspension and now slapped in the face again when forced to accept Ahmad without a formal apology to Koh.

What spineless and unprincipled idiots. And Gerakan hope to regain the support of the people Ahmad insulted. The rakyat has seen how Umno tramples on Gerakan, and most recently MCA, on the ‘Allah’ issue.

Lim Hong Kai: Dear Gerakan, please read the following lines again from Ahmad. "I have also met Gerakan and they have extended their support to me. They want to work together with Umno... ''.

It seems to me that you (Gerakan) have made a big mistake to work with Ahmad’s men again in Penang. Who started the racist remarks about the Chinese in Penang? Who stomped on the ex-chief minister photo?

By the way, you cannot change the perception of the Chinese in Penang in the near future even you work very hard with these arrogant men. The next GE will show where you will be in future.

Anonymous: Firstly, damage already done. Secondly, you've been upstaged by Perkasa's Ibrahim Ali.

Mystery witness to testify against Air Force

Fairplayer: If the court and the judiciary remain bias and the Bar Council remain mute, what fat chance has N Tharmendran?

Who was the defence minister when the theft was committed? Incidentally, who was the defence minister when the C4 bombs were smuggled out to blow Altantuya Shaariibuu to bits? Who was the defence minister when the Scorpenes were bought?

They were one and the same person. He must answer to all these mysteries. Can't the court call the defence minister concerned to the witness box? Or are the courts too powerless to even whisper?

Isaac Ho: I doubt the accused - acting alone - would be able to accomplish this ‘mission impossible’ -  stealing and then illegally exporting the two jet engines to Uruguay without the tacit knowledge and support of those higher-ups, such as some generals in the Air Force.

Hence, the justice system should look into how such military hardware could be smuggled out of the country. Come on, Malaysian Air Force, don't think Malaysians are as ignorant as you are...

MyGosh: Bar Council, is it right or legal for a person in remand to be interrogated? Please clarify.
