Police have busted a ring involved in stealing birds nest around the Manjung district with arrest of 40-year-old man in Ayer Tawar near Lumut recently.

Manjung deputy police chief Deputy Supt Shaharudin Abdullah said the man was caught while in the act of stealing birds nests along Jalan Besar, Ayer Tawar.

“The owner of the building housing the nests alerted the police about the man following which a team was despatched to the scene to nab the suspect,” he told reporters at his office in Lumut today.

He said the suspect led to the arrests of two “partners-in-crime”.

He added that police recovered 1kg of unprocessed birds nest from the trio.

Birds nest is a highly sought after delicacy in the country.
