Selangor Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairperson Noh Omar took to task the Selangor government over the debacle that happened during the Islamic Song Festival in Shah Alam on July 4.

He said it should not have happened because the event was graced by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah.

Noh, who is also Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister, said he was also disappointed that an apology was not forthcoming from the Selangor government over the debacle.

"We must understand our constitution and show proper respect to the royal institution," he told reporters after attending a political function here today.

It was reported that Her Majesty was not accorded a proper welcome at the event and elements of protocol were not heeded.

The Selangor government had claimed that Her Majesty had attended the function in her personal capacity but this was rebutted in a statement issued by Istana Negara yesterday.
