Kerdau state assemblyperson Zaharuddin Abu Kassim, who earlier suffered from kidney and heart problems, today attended the 12th sitting of the state assembly in Kuantan.

Speaking to reporters, the 63-year-old said he began work as soon as he was discharged from the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur on July 5.

He said he had also attended two functions - the village development and security committee meeting and the aid presentation programme in his constituency.

"My movement is still restricted and I can only perform light duties," he said when met in Kuantan.

On May 9, Zaharuddin was admitted to the institute, following heart and kidney complications, after undergoing an operation for colon ulcer at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh.

He was warded at the hospital on April 3.
