Anwar: First cuts would be deepest

Habib RAK: Let’s see what Pakatan has done thus far. Public inquiry proceedings was established like the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) in Selangor, lopsided contracts such as water agreements are being challenged, state universities are being revamped, procurement is now transparent and tender-driven, a Freedom of Information bill in Selangor is on course towards legislation, a Pakatan-led state’s public accounts committee is now headed by an opposition candidate, wayward leaders within Pakatan are rebuked and dropped immediately. and many more.

Thus, the examples that Anwar Ibrahim mentioned about independent power producers’ subsidies to be reduced and qualified heads, irregardless of race and religion, will lead local universities are based on actions which Pakatan has already started.

Anwar and gang will be doomed immediately if they go astray once they come to power because the awakened rakyat will not allow it to happen. We are now more conscious and more demanding. Anwar knows this.

Steven For Malaysia: It’s good to have summarised what a Pakatan Rakyat government would implement during its first 12 months in power so that all Malaysians could judge for themselves what the differences will be between Pakatan and BN. Care must also be taken to prevent Umnoputras from playing the racial and religious cards on those issues.    

Not Confused: This is a good start - but there needs to be more revelations and publication of a full prospectus of what actions the new Pakatan-led government plans to do. Many people I know are on the fence with regards to a change of government because they are still unsure of how PKR would manage the country given that they have never had that power.

PKR needs to make their intentions in all areas clear so that people can judge them with confidence. Malaysians always seem to be scared of change and need confidence to throw out the BN regime.

Anonymous: Want to know more about what Pakatan will do? Wait for the election manifesto. The states run by Pakatan are making great progress. Look at this bigger picture.

Lonestar: The next general election is going to be a GE for fence-sitters. Pakatan and BN-Umno will have little need to work on their die-hard supporters but they will have once again deal with the fence-sitters. And this time around, there will be even more of them.

Many more young voters would have come of age and they would need convincing as to who can better govern the nation. Some of those who supported Pakatan in the 12th GE may have gotten disillusioned and be swayed.

So Pakatan must be on its toes and in the coming months come out with clear plans on how it is going to govern competently, accountably and transparently when it is in Putrajaya.    

KSN:

Anwar, can you also work on the opposition’s shadow cabinet. No doubt there will be, should be, new faces, people of calibre and integrity at the next general election. Changes can be made then. There are some limitations in the present line-up of MPs to do that but it is better to have one now. Get ready for Putrajaya.

Barrister at law:

After PKR comes into office, Mohd Azmin Ali and Shamsidar Taharin will go off on a shopping spree to Paris and London. Then the juicy positions will have to be divided. After that the old networks of Kamaruddin Jaafar, Nasaruddin Mat Isa, Wan Hasni Sulaiman, Rani Ibrahim, etc, will start jockeying for concessions.

Current independent power producers (IPPs) will be chopped and their loot will be taken by Anwar's people. The corporate sector will be looted the way companies like MUI fell victim to Anwar before. That's the future under PKR.

Concern_Father: Anwar, be careful. May 13 happened because DAP won Kuala Lumpur. Umnoputra will not give up their ‘lifestyle’ just because the people want them to. They may start another May 13 and put the blame on others.

Remember, the police, army, prosecution, Election Commission, judiciary, sultans and the king are in favour of them. As long as these parties are not independent, your dream in setting your foot in Putrajaya will mean bloodshed.

Wira:

Pakatan won Penang, Selangor, Perak and Kedah in 2008. Did you see any bloodshed? No, Umno will not allow this to happen because all the super rich folks will lose a lot of money in KLSE should this happen. 1969 was different because many were poor and the country was void of Umnoputras. Not now.

Ablastine: The only power that is greater than the combined might of the corrupted police, military, judiciary, royalties, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Attorney-General’s Chambers, and heads of important institutions in Malaysia is people power.

I bet that when the going gets tough and Umno faces imminent defeat in the next election, as it surely will, they will create trouble, have emergency rule and imprison all opposition candidates just like Burma once did. Pakatan must make preparation for this eventuality by not having all their leaders in the country so that the they can escape the ISA dragnet. These leaders should then organise the nation from overseas.

Coordinate passive resistance of peoples power, like getting all taxpayers to stop paying tax, hold countrywide candlelight vigils, nationwide strikes that involve everybody, and plead to strong nations like US, EU, China, India and Asean to intervene.

Temenggong:

Read carefully. There is no mention of abolishing the Internal Security Act (ISA), Official Secrets Act (OSA) and the other draconian acts. And there’s no mention of economic reform, repatriation of migrant workers nor minimum wage.

1Malaysia:

Yes, first on the list should be the declassification of OSA documents and show the rakyat what a corrupt government we have had for the past 50 years.
