The Kuala Terengganu Sessions Court was told today that the short messaging service (SMS) application used to send the threatening SMS to three Terengganu BN assemblymen could be abused by the users.

Hazwan Abu Hassan, the owner of Mobile Biz Network Sdn Bhd, the company which owns the service application, said the company had no way of preventing the application from being abused.

He said the users were not required to obtain a licence from any agencies, like the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission, to use the application.

"The users do not have to fill any form to get the user name and pass word to use the application," he said in response to a question by defence counsel Hazman  Ahmad.

He was testifying in the trial of Dr Ahmad Ramzi Mohamad Zubir, the former political secretary to former Terengganu Menteri Besar Idris Jusoh, who was charged with three counts of making criminal intimidation by threatening the lives of Paka assemblyman Mohd Ariffin Abdullah, Permaisuri assemblyman Abdul Halim Jusoh and Ajil assemblyman Rosol Wahid with intention of creating fear in them at E726 Jalan Kubang Parit, Kampung Kubang Parit between 11.21am and 11.25am on April 13 last year.

He is also charged with slandering Wan Ahamad Wan Muda, the former private secretary to Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Said, by posting a SMS threat on the lives of the three assemblymen on the Mobile Biz website by using a mobile phone number 019-9158369 owned by Wan Ahamad at the same place between 11.21am and 11.25am the same day.

Ahmad Ramzi was also represented by lawyers Mohd Noor Mahmood and Rosli Abd while deputy public prosecutor Ishak Yusoff, Ooi Chooi Gaik and Nur Azimul Azami appeared for the prosecution.

The hearing before judge M Bakri Abd Majid continues on Sept 21 to 23.
