Malaysian consumer prices rose 1.6 percent year-on-year in November and increased by 0.3 percent from the previous month, the Statistics Department said today.

The consumer price index for the first 11 months of the year was up 1.9 percent from last year, the department said in a statement.

Food, rent, fuel, transport and communication accounted for 91.3 percent of the overall increase during the January-November period, the department said.

All main groups of goods recorded price increases during the 11 months, except for clothing and footwear which decreased by 2.4 percent and furniture which eased 0.4 percent. AFP
