MCA Youth is studying suggestions from several quarters to encourage more people under the age of 35 to join the party.

wee ka siong interview 220310 01 MCA Youth chief Wee Kia Siong ( right ) said a committee co-chaired by both vice-presidents of the movement, Wyman Yoo and Wilfred Yong, had been given the task to study the suggestions.

They would hold discussions with the Wanita MCA to find out how the youths could be encouraged to join the party, he said.

"The MCA Youth has been waiting for this and a decision on it will be announced soon after getting agreement from both parties," he told reporters after chairing a meeting of the MCA Youth at Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur today.

"For the past few weeks, we (MCA Youth) have been having intensive discussions with Wanita MCA leaders, including with its chief Yu Chok Tow, and I must say all of us have a bigger agenda to achieve and we like to see more youths, whether male or female, to contribute to the party and BN as a whole," he said.

Earlier, Wee was reported to have said that the movement planned to attract more than 21,000 youths under the age of 35 each year in view of the fact that more than half of the 280,000 members of the movement comprised those above the age of 35.
