A teenager claimed that he sustained fractures of the right wrist and little finger after he was allegedly beaten up by four policemen who booked him for traffic offences on early Wednesday.

Mohd Asri Ismail, 18, said the incident occurred as he was refuelling his motorcycle at a petrol kiosk in Jalan Kuala Kedah near Alor Setar at about 12.30am.

"Before I could ask what I did wrong, they started hitting me on the head, including with a helmet.

"I try to ward off the blows with my right hand. I did not realise that they had followed me," he said when met at his house in Alor Setar today.

Mohd Asri said after that he was slapped with three summonses for beating traffic light, riding without a licence and riding an ill-equipped motorcycle.

Mohd Asri has lodged a report on the incident at the Kota Setar police district headquarters.

His father Ismail Ali, 52, said he had no qualm if his son was merely booked for violating traffic rules but not when he was allegedly assaulted by the policemen.

Meanwhile, Kota Setar police chief ACP Abdul Ghafar Rajab said the report would be investigated and action would be taken against the policemen involved if they were found to be at fault.
