The rights and privileges committee will inform the state legislative assembly the action it will take on opposition leader Azhar Ibrahim for allegedly uttering seditious words in May, Speaker Abdul Halim Hussain said.

He said the committee today heard the Penaga assemblyperson's explanation over the accusation.

Speaking to reporters after chairing the committee's meeting in Georgetown today, he said Azhar would now his fate by then.

"Let's wait for the sitting," Abdul Halim said.

In May, Datuk Keramat assemblyperson Jagdeep Singh, tabled a motion to refer Azhar to the committee, alleging that the opposition leader had uttered seditious words.

Meanwhile, Abdul Halim said assembly members would be supplied with a list of words deemed unparliamentary in the next assembly sitting.

"If there are assemblypersons uttering these words, they should retract them or risked being ordered out of the assembly," he said.

Met by reporters, Azhar said he would still be able to attend the assembly sitting in November.

"I've explained to the committee what I actually meant. I did not threaten anyone.

"It was just a reminder not to insult Umno members," he said, adding that he somewhat guessed what the action against him would be.
