PKR member MS Arjunan today lodged a police report claiming he had received a death threat over the telephone in relation to his allegation of a deputy minister's involvement in immoral activities.

Arjunan claimed that he had received the threat at 3.39pm yesterday from an unidentified Indian man who had used abusive words on him and then issued the death threat.

"The caller said in Tamil 'hey, do not meddle with Datuk Saravanan. We will destroy and murder your family'," he said after making the report at the Brickfields district police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Arjunan had lodged a police report on Saturday claiming that Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Deputy Minister M  Saravanan, of the MIC, was involved in immoral activities such as prostitution as well as gangsterism.

Today, he called on the police to expedite their investigation into the matter, saying he feared for his safety and that of his family.

Arjunan has claimed that he has sufficient evidence to back his allegation against Saravanan and that he had passed it to his lawyer for safekeeping until it could be adduced in court.

This prompted inspector-general of police Musa Hassan to express disappointment yesterday with Arjunan's reluctance to extend cooperation to the police, and said this could delay the investigation.

CID director Mohd Bakri Zinin said today police could not go on with their investigation so long as Arjunan did not hand over the evidence he claimed to have.

He said there was no reason for the police to summon or record a statement from the deputy minister.
