Embattled Selangor exco member Ronnie Liu vowed not to bow down to calls for his resignation over claims that he had issued dubious recommendation letters for companies seeking government projects.

NONE "These allegations are too insignificant compared to the job at hand," said Liu ( right ), referring to his duties as head of local government (study and research) committee and Pandamaran state assemblyperson.

"Come what may, I will still fight," he added when met by reporters at his Pandamaran service centre today.

Liu has come under heavy pressure to resign following the sacking of his former aide Tee Boon Hock from DAP. Tee was also stripped of his post as Klang municipal councillor by the state government for breach of ethics.

Tee was alleged to have issued a letter recommending a company linked to his son that was bidding for a government project.

Liu was " severely reprimanded " by the party's disciplinary committee over the debacle for failing to manage his office in a professional manner.

Will defend CEC post

Following this, there was rumblings within the party that Liu was merely given a slap on the wrist.

NONE DAP central executive committee (CEC) member Teng Chang Khim ( left ) had urged the former to resign and take responsibility for the incident.

Commenting on the criticisms, Liu said he accepted his punishment and has hired a consultant to revamp his Pandamaran service centre.

"I have withdrawn all my letterheads and stamps. There won't be anyone signing (letters) on my behalf again," he said.

He adds that he was no stranger to political pressure and would not back down.

"I have been constantly working under pressure since the day I entered politics. I don't think that the problems now are bigger than previous challenges that I have endured," he said.

Liu also confirmed that he would defend his CEC position during the upcoming party polls this year-end.
