Film producer Raja Azmi Raja Sulaiman, who was arrested by police yesterday because of an outstanding warrant of arrest against her for failing to turn up for hearing in civil case involving a land sale worth RM5.9 million, was released on RM8,000 bail by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Justice Lim Yee Lian made the decision after Raja Azmi was produced in court today.

Also present at the court today were her husband, former national badminton player Mohd Jalani Mohd Sidek, their daughter Puteri Suraya, who was accompanied by husband Mohd Shadan Hashim, and a few colleagues.

Raja Azmi, who was in a red and blue modern baju kurung, was supposed to attend court hearing on July 12, for which a subpoena was served on her on July 9, but she did not attend the hearing resulting in the case being postponed.

Earlier, Raja Azmi was ordered to explain to the court her reason for not attending the July 12 hearing.

"I did not receive any documents or subpoena to inform me that I was supposed to attend to testify," she said.

She denied lying to the court when Lim asked about her not receiving the subpoena.

A friend, Zahrin Aris, posted the RM8,000 bail when Mohd Jalani was not allowed to do so as he was a bankrupt.

The court set Nov 29 and 30 and Dec 13 to 15 to continue hearing the civil case.
