The national-level Independence Day celebration next Tuesday will focus on showcasing the ability and fighting spirit of the country's security forces.

Culture and Arts Department director-general Norliza Rofli said over 1,500 armed forces and police personnel would take part in the performance during the celebration.

The 60-minute performance at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil would incorporate the elements of the 1Malaysia concept as well as the values of integrity and patriotism, she said.

There would be eight high-impact segments during the performance, including defence movements and formations by the armed forces, to rouse the spirit of independence.

"We will also be showing the images of all the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, from the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong until the present 13th, and pay tribute to our prime ministers since independence," she said.

The new concept was in line with the government's efforts to transform the country, she added.
