The tit-for-tat game between the heads of right wing Malay NGO Perkasa and Umno Youth deepened today, with Ibrahim Ali reckoning that the Umno will only be only too happy if Khairy jamaluddin quit the party.

NONE Ibrahim ( left ) was commenting on a New Straits Times report today quoting Khairy as saying that he would walk away from Umno if the majority of its members supported Perkasa.

Donning the garb of an amatuer psychologist, the independent Pasir Mas MP asked what was wrong with Khairy, saying it was hilarious of the Umno Youth head to make such a statement.

"It could be that his frustration has peaked after not getting any deputy minister's post and is using Perkasa as an excuse.

"I feel that many Umno members will be happy if he resigns or leaves the party, for when his father-in-law (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) was the prime minister, he (Khairy) had his operations on the fourth floor of the Prime Minister's Department. This resulted in heavy losses for the BN and Umno in the last general election," he said.

Ibrahim said without Khairy, the rakyat would be happy with Umno.

"Whatever it is, I pity him. Last time he was arrogant... now, with the father-in-law no longer the PM, he has lost his stripes. That is why he is making such irrational statements," said the vocal lawmaker.

Khairy had earlier refuted a claim by PAS Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad that Umno was working `hand in glove' with the Malay right-wing group.

"If there is a situation that they (Umno) would pick Perkasa over me, I will walk away," the Umno Youth chief was reported to have said.
