Coming soon: Malaysia's funniest court video

vox populi small thumbnail 'Since the trial was conducted in such absurdity by Abdul Razak, the judge should rule the entire proceedings as a mistrial.’

DPP vs Pornthip video goes online, finally

Paul Warren: I like transparency and a little honesty and all that. However, in the 55 years of my lifetime I have known no other incident or action or statement that puts to shame Malaysia as DPP Abdul Razak Musa did.

It is so embarrassing that I honestly don't mind the video being taken down. Even my dark brown face turns pink purple and blue watching this jester.

Geronimo: To say that her (Pornthip Rojanasunand’s) qualification is not recognised in Malaysia is laughable to say the least. From the manner in which the questions were asked, I believe the good doctor must be glad she did not receive her education here.

Abdul Razak must take cognisance of the fact that our medical degree is not even recognised by the British authorities and I dread to think the next time I have to visit a hospital and to be attended by a locally-trained doctor.

Since the trial was conducted in such absurdity by Abdul Razak, the judge should rule the entire proceedings as a mistrial.

Pure: The Indonesian courts never use English and so with the other nations like Thailand, French and Japan. They don't practice the common law system, which is inherited from the British, and practiced in Malaysia.

Moreover, our statutes are mostly duplicates of the British statutes, and a bulk of them still maintain the English versions as the authoritative text i.e. the legally binding versions.

To ensure maximum justice, Malaysian lawyers, practicing in a system which gives vitality to two languages, and every now and then need to construe the meaning of certain words or phrases embedded in the provisions of laws, have to surpass certain level of English proficiencies, especially for persons holding high office like Abdul Razak.

Otherwise, caught in a situation like this, an unanticipated nonsense uttered and the lawyer became a clown. Even Thailand's Pornthip spoke and understood the English utterances better than our MACC head of prosecution.

Phra Ong Chao: In any case, Abdul Razak's poor command of English is not really an issue here. Even if he spoke perfect English, the contents of his speech is of poor quality, to say the least. Pornthip's command of English is also not perfect but what she says makes perfect sense and that is what matters most.

Keanjin: A lawyer with 24 years in practice? His could be one year real experience repeated for the next 23 years. Moreover, he dared to ask for the qualification from a renowned expert.

Lover Boy: DPP Abdul Razak Musa, I just want to remind you that the coroner inquest proceedings are serious. A lawyer with 24 years behind you in active practice, I feel you must not turn the hearing into a circus and more so, you must not be the lead clown.

AB Sulaiman: And this is the type of guy who'll get a Datukship, Tan Sriship or even a Tunship sooner rather than later. And for what reason?

Not for his fine knowledge and skill with law, or his professionalism, or his commitment to seek the truth, for he has shown precious little of any of them. But for his splendid performance in upholding the dignity and 'maruah' of his 'agama, bangsa dan negara'.

Anonymous: Watching the video is entertaining with a BN/Umno overpaid clown outdoing himself. Way to go, AG and MACC! You are the epitome of Bolehsia's corrupted and bullying judiciary. As rakyat, we can see for ourselves the dirty work you are doing for a morally-bankrupt regime.

The Malaysian: Mr Attorney-General, isn't it time that you resign? Shame on you if you refuse because your department's incompetence is so glaring that it brings shame to the whole country.

Not only that. Whilst your performance on official duties is so appalling, your behaviour and personal conduct leaves a lot to be desired, hardly befitting the honourable office of the attorney-general.

For the sake of a brighter and better Malaysia, for your children’s and their children’s and those of all Malaysians, please do the only decent thing by stepping down.

Ray Tek: Soon we can have our own popular TV show called ‘Malaysia's Funniest Court Videos’. It can be a compilation of all the government-linked cases, like the VK Lingam case to Altantuya Shaariibuu and PKFZ.

Hopium: After watching the short video, and after listening to his (Abdul Razak’s) putrid English, I am thinking of self-strangulation and jumping off from my mango tree.

MACC, please get involved in my suicidal attempt (as yet), as I would leave a suicidal note which can be found in my brief (depending on MACC's definition of brief) two months after my loss of body weight and consciousness.

Razak, you are the only chap who has the supra-intelligence to understand this highly tortuous story I am talking about.

Keturunan Malaysia: The AG said, "I have nothing to hide. Let me just do my job." Of course, because this one you cannot hide even if you want to.

Final victory: Settlers get RM11 mil from Felda

EquaLizer: It is the epitome of hypocrisy that a scheme to uplift the poor and disadvantaged is instead used to defraud them. The party which claims to champion, protect and defend Malay rights would have no qualms to cheat them given half a chance.

The party that has been in power for 50-odd years is crooked right to the core. It is a pure case of ‘Melayu tipu Melayu’. Sadly 50 of the settlers did not live to see justice. It is hoped that Felda settlers would now wake up and kick these hypocrites out in the coming elections.

Habib RAK: The audacity of minister Mustapa Mohamed to have threatened the settlers with eviction when Felda was cheating these poor farmers who were slogging very hard, is a reflection of the arrogance of Umno to perpetually keep Felda settlers at their mercy. Now, they will face the wrath of Felda settlers in the next election.

Cala: Who started the lost ethical years? If a question is asked as to what had gone wrong during Dr Mahathir Mohamad's era when the helpless Felda settlers found out to their horror that their "protectors" had turned out to be cheaters?

A plausible answer lies with the wrong culture/ideology emphasised by the old man. What mattered then was about immediate glorification, and influential men were made to lead a life similar to ancient noblemen as long as they said yes to him. Those who said no would be persecuted.

Indeed, Mahathir encouraged a “culture that rewarded obedience and shortchanged integrity (not meritocracy, mind you), allowing Malaysia to drift into a period appropriately described as the lost ethical years” (Wain, 2009, p. 347, para 4).

Human Factor: This marked a paradigm shift that Felda settlers are an intelligent group of people that need to be respected and given freedom to unite and fight for their rights.

This is real ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ mentality - work hard and work smart, not those who are fond of receiving small insignificant ‘duit raya’ to suppress any injustice done and also to keep them dependent on the management.

With this mentality, the prospect for the settlers is promising to become world-class farmers. As for the Felda management, my advice is to reform and to satisfy the customers (settlers) requirement and treat the settlers with respect.

As my friend Dato Ali Wayat said, don't treat the Melayu like mushroom - feed them with shits, keep them in the dark and pull them out only when you want them. Hidup Melayu!

Swipenter: Remember the knife cuts both ways. Those entrusted to help the poor are robbing them not unlike the bastardisation of the NEP. Only in the Felda case, there is no external third party to be used as a scapegoat to cover up for their greed and thievery.

Victor Johan: The credit also goes to Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial. Since the courts had set precedence of 'no power for review', the courts will have to abide by this ruling for many more forthcoming cases.

RM21 mil mansion: A gift to Taib's family?

Sarawakian: If the rest of our corrupt politicians think that they can hide their ill-gotten wealth overseas, they should think again.

You don't need the MACC to track them down. Nobody knows who are the people behind Sarawak Report but we should salute them for their tenacity and great detective work in tracking down Taib's wealth. Perhaps Pakatan could employ them to run MACC when they come to power.

Love you, Sarawak Report . Let's hear more from you. And don't forget the other big crooks too.

Philip Chong: PM Najib Razak, why is Taib still untouched? What signal are you looking for? Is he more powerful then you? In that case, you shouldn't be prime minister.

MACC chief Abu Kassim Mohamad, are you going to take action against Taib? If not, you better resign as what you had declared . We need calibre leaders to lead MACC, those who walk the talk.

Neders:

Just one question. Is this guy so powerful that no one can or dare touch him? If that is the case, there is no hope for Sarawak, or for that matter this country. What's the use of the PDRM or MACC if they are toothless in dealing with the daylight plundering of the country's resources?

Bloody corrupted leaders without an ounce of decency, and we allow them to run the country.
