The parent company of flag carrier Malaysia Airlines has agreed to buy six Airbus A380-800 superjumbo aircraft, the European consortium said today.

Penerbangan Malaysia Bhd (PMB) has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire the six passenger aircraft which would be leased to the flag carrier, Airbus said in a statement.

"Deliveries to Malaysia Airlines are scheduled to begin in 2007. Current planning will see the airline operate the A380s on key trunk routes. Engine choice is yet to be determined," it said.
