The Negeri Sembilan government is following the federal government's footsteps in giving a special payment of RM500 each to its civil servants.

Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan said about 6,000 civil servants and those employed on a contract basis under the Negeri Sembilan government and its agencies would receive the payment to celebrate the Hari Raya Aidilftiri.

"We will bring up the matter at the State Executive Council meeting tomorrow to be decided and approved," he told reporters after the 53rd Merdeka Day celebration at the state level at the Seremban Municipal Council Hall in Seremban today.

On Aug 25, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had said in a statement

that the special payment would be given to government pensioners and civil servants in Grades 1 until 54.
