Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), a Barisan Nasional component party in Sarawak, is scheduled to hold its supreme council meeting in Kuching on Sunday.

Its secretary-general Dr Stephen Rundi confirmed the meeting but did not disclose the issues to be discussed.

However PBB senior vice-president II Douglas Uggah Embas, when contacted, said the meeting was likely to discuss preparation for the state election due next year.

Uggah, who is Natural Resources and Environment Minister, said no specific agenda had been set for the meeting.

Another supreme council member and Kapit member of Parliament Alex Nanta Linggi said the meeting was expected to discuss current issues in the state as well as the need for party president Abdul Taib Mahmud to continue leading the state as the chief minister.

A special meeting called by deputy president Alfred Jabu, attended by all the supreme council members in Miri on Monday, had unanimously pledged support to Taib to continue to lead the state.
