Nizar urged to prove Umno behind doctored photo

Perak Umno has urged member of parliament for Bukit Gantang Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin to substantiate his claim that Umno was behind an online picture depicting Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng slaughtering a cow.
State Umno liaison committee secretary Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib said if Nizar failed to do so, he would be taken to court for defamation.
Nizar was quoted by a newspaper last Friday as saying that Umno was responsible for superimposing Lim's face on to the image of a man slaughtering a cow.
"Clearly, Nizar had accused Umno of committing an unethical act and this is a serious allegation," he said in a statement.
Lim's political secretary Ng Wei Aik had lodged a police report on the online circulation of the photograph.
Mohd Khusairi said the opposition had ran out of ideas by dragging Umno into polemics and a practice normally associated with cyber-troopers.
"Far too many doctored pictures using superimpose technique were posted on the Internet by cyber-troopers, including opposition supporters during the 12th general election which had caused uneasiness among the people," he added.
