Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Mukhriz Mahathir claimed certain groups are out to cause friction between Malaysia and Indonesia.

He said these groups feared that the two countries would become influential forces in the region.

They also wanted to disrupt Malaysia's march towards a developed nation by 2020, he added.

"Of couse, we are angered by their actions but we have to be patient," he said, adding that the anti-Malaysia demonstrations by Indonesian's Benteng Demokrasi Rakyat (Bendera) did not reflect the sentiments of all Indonesians.

Mukhriz said this in a speech during a breaking-of-fast event organised by the Ledang Umno division where he also presented aid to orphans and the poor at the Datuk Abdul Ghani Mosque in Sagil Parit Dua, Sagil, here yesterday.

Mukhriz also slammed the opposition for bad-mouthing Malaysia abroad, saying this was in stark contrast to the opposition parties of other countries.
