Travellers on the north-bound traffic from Bidor to Tapah along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) suffered a five-hour traffic congestion this morning following an accident involving two heavy vehicles.
A Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) spokesman said the accident, on the right lane of the route to the north, at Km334, near the Bikam farm, involved a vegetable-laden trailer and a lorry.
The accident at 4.30am caused the trailer to skid across the road, he said.
He said the work to remove the trailer was completed at 8.30am and it took another hour for the traffic to clear because of the sheer number of cars on the road because of the balik kampung rush.
"The traffic is also moving slowly towards Nilai and Seremban. The situation along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway at the Bentong Barat intersection is under control," he said.
More information on the traffic condition can be obtained from the MHA at 1800-88-7752.
Plus Ekspressways Bhd expects up to 1.4 million cars a day plying on major roads yesterday and today compare to only about 1.1 million on normal days.
