Traffic still remained heavy along some parts of the North-South Highway on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri with many yet to reach their respective destinations.

The situation is yet to ease in some areas where traffic has remained very high since yesterday, said a spokesman from the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM).

He said there was a slowdown in traffic heading towards south on the Plus Highway between the Air Hitam and YongPeng stretch.

"The traffic situation from the junction of Slim River to Sungkai (from KM366 to KM371), at the Sungai Besi toll plaza area and the Nilai stop heading towards Seremban all looked congested," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

Otherwise, the other highways all reported smooth sail including the Damansara-Puchong highway or LDP, he added.

Meanwhile, a spokesman from the Bukit Aman traffic operations room, said traffic heading towards the south was slow from the KM284.0 to KM263.0 stretch or from Nilai to Seremban due to the heavy traffic load.

He said traffic was heavy on the Bukit Beruntung to Tanjung Malim stretch while the flow was moderate along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway amid the rainy weather.
