More objections to noisy, sexy 'ge tai

Keturunan Malaysia: When my wife gave birth to our first son many years ago, the baby loved to cry day and night especially when he was thirsty, hungry or sleepy. My wife tenderly, lovingly and happily took everything the baby threw at her. However, my wife's youngest brother, who was staying with us, told my wife that it was hell for him with the crying day in and day out.

Fast forward a dozen of years, my brother-in-law has got his first baby son. The crying was about the same level - maybe it runs in the family. Nonetheless, I told my wife to 'pretend' to complain that the crying was killing. My brother-in-law retorted, "What do you expect a baby to do - talk and tell you what he wants. Moreover, it is also nature's way of training his voice box..."

I am not making excuses here. I am only saying that most times, it is noise for some and music for others. The only way to handle something like this is to mutually decide where and when the music starts and ends, and where and when the noise starts and end - more so when dealing with religions, beliefs, customs and traditions - and to do it with a clear-cut rule which applies to all.

As for Penang Muslim League president Haja Najmudeen Kader, he has every right to speak on behalf of his organisation, but he has no right to speak for non-Muslims, especially the Chinese in this case.

Bringing this issue up in the full glare of the public just to seek an 'understanding' was at best mischievous. If his intention is good and clean, he could have exhausted all other means before doing what he did. Haja Najmudeen Kader's intention is anything but good, friendly and/or noble.

Victor Johan: Recently during a by-election, at a Barisan Nasional-sponsored dinner function, an Umno chieftain said that it was okay to have such scantily-dressed girls singing as it was 'Chinese' culture. When did this Umno leader become a representative of the Chinese community? But that was a 'buy-election' where older folks were being enticed for their votes.

Gibran: The Hungry Ghost festival has been in existence and celebrated in the same fashion for more than a few decades in this country and it has not been made an issue. Our PM is saying that under the concept of 1Malaysia, we have to move from being a tolerant society to a society which accepts diversity.

So dear friends, please do not add one more problem when we have enough in our hands. Let's learn to accept everyone the way they are. That is the only formula to achieve our dream of a beautiful Malaysia.

Imran: Noise levels should be controlled so that it does not cause a disturbance to others in the neighbourhood. It's as simple as that. It is sad that after two generations of living together, some of us still don't know how to work peacefully together.

RM30 mil donation gone: Explain why, MCA

Cala: MCA's lukewarm response to Mr Koon Yew Yin's generous proposal to build a hostel in the Utar Kampar campus reminds me of Chang Ming Thien story (the late founder and owner of UMBC bank - the bank which later taken over by the government as Sime Bank that quickly went bust under mysterious circumstances).

If my memory serves me right, Chang set up an education foundation as part of a will after his death in the 1980s to be managed by a "political party". But the fund simply evaporated into the thin air soon after. Can Koon trust Utar (knowing that the bosses behind it are politicians) to manage the RM30 million donation from him?

When you have crooks like former presidents Tan Koon Swan (charged for his role in Pal Electric share manipulation in Singapore) and Ling Liong Sik (charged for his role in the PKFZ scandal), MCA as a party is best consigned to history.

Enough is enough; let it be hung on the wall of Museum Negara. Let the voters dump them in 13th GE. Is not its true colour judged by the quality of its best friend (Umno)?

Anonymous: The RM30 million donation is with condition as set by Mr Koon Yew Yin. Read the original article . Whether it is a genuine donation or a donation for self pride, you can judge it yourself. If it is okay for Utar to submit to the demand of the person who donate the money, then by all means, why not? After all, RM30 million is not a small amount.

And if Mr Koon is trying to engrave his name in Utar by paying RM30 million, is it too much to ask? Even in schools, we have halls named after the people who made donations to them.

Kgen: Why so silent, MCA? Nothing to say to defend yourself? Or can't decide which lies to issue to the public?

M'sia Today 'blocked to stop release of documents'

Pemerhati: Time magazine reported that Malaysia has lost RM320 billion to corruption since the early 1980s, which is when Dr Mahathir Mohamad started his 22-year ‘reign' as prime minister to plunder the country .

Some of the documentary evidence and the details as to how the plunder was carried out are slowly being revealed. Mahathir and his many partners in crime would be extremely worried and would be thinking of various strategies to save themselves and their ill-gotten assets in case Pakatan Rakyat comes to power.

Recent revelations that large sums of money have left the country could be due to these people sending their billions overseas where they hope to flee in case BN loses the next elections.

Pakatan should have a plan to quickly prevent these rogues from fleeing and recover the stolen money.

Fido Dido: We now have the virtual media and nothing can be covered up like it used to be in the 80/90s era. So Prime Minister Najib Razak should better do something to appease the rakyat. Let the whole MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) team look into the reported RM320 billion loss.

BN must come out clean otherwise they will be wiped out. The Sarawak ‘Silver Haired' CM must also be brought to book.

Anonymous: Will the outgoing IGP (inspector-general of police) do his final duty of service to the nation by revealing the "interferences" which have hampered the work of the police force?

If he dares to spill the beans as his parting shot before he leaves office, then he would have done the greatest service to the nation and people of Malaysia. Or will he go out quietly and carry the wrongs to his grave?

Mahindar Singh: Who says there is corruption in Malaysia? The corruption is only involving cases around RM2,400 or even lower. So far no one has been convicted of any major graft charges because there is none. So we have to focus on the small fish. By the time, we have the big fish, they will be dead and their files closed.

Swipenter: Knowing that the Internet is a sieve, how long can they block Malaysia Today ? Other sites can still carry the stories. The best approach is to refute the allegations or just ignore them at your own risks. Gone are the days that the government controls what they want you to read and know.
