Eleven motorcyclists were among 21 killed in road accidents on the eighth day of Ops Sikap yesterday, bringing the total death toll to 139 since the start of the operation on Sept 3.

Police said 1,001 accidents were reported yesterday, 99 on highways, 408 on federal roads, 184 on state roads, 255 on municipal roads and 55 on other roads.

A total of 4,907 summonses were issued for various traffic offences.

The 22nd Ops Sikap, a road safety campaign in conjunction with the Aidilfitri, ends on Sept 17.
