The enforcement division of the Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry has taken action against a seafood restaurant at Tanjong Tokong in Georgetown for charging its patron RM1 for a glass of warm water.

State enforcement chief M Guna Selan said the action was taken following complaints from the public on the RM1 charged by the restaurant for a glass of warm water whose price was not included in the menu.

"Yesterday, a team of enforcement officers went to the restaurant and they ordered the warm water and all were charged RM1 per glass," he told Bernama in Penang today.

He said all restaurants were required to display the price of all food and drinks served at their premises, failing which legal action could be taken against the operators.
