Chua defends Umno, party not racist

Anonymous: "In my association or MCA's association with Umno, I have never heard of any Umno leader saying that Malays are superior to non-Malays."

Why play with words, CSL (Chua Soi Lek)? Many used to believe you were a person of high integrity, but now you are displaying a "it sounds like it, looks like it but it's not it" kind of integrity. How can you expect the rakyat to be convinced?

Rajm: Chua Soi Lek, you must be out of your mind. Umno tells us that we are pendatangs and that we should be grateful to Umno that we were given citizenship.

Umno tells us that we should not talk about our constitution because it is sensitive. Not that it is sensitive but Umno has interpreted the special position of Malays in their own way. Look at Hishammuddin Hussein, a minister who is always inclined towards racialism.

There are many others, too many to mention. Chua, are you trying to apple-polish Umno?

Lover Boy: Chua, are you serious, or are you just plain stupid or deaf? There are too many examples of Umno's racism for me to quote, so I shall not quote any. Try selling this to the Chinese non-MCA members.

Mangodurian: No, of course not all Umno leaders are harping on Malay supremacy. Only the ones that matter do.

Lonestar: The good doctor CSL must be completely bereaved of his auditory and ocular faculties. Or he is electively blind and deaf when he is amongst Umnoputras and the rakyat. He appears not to be living in Malaysia.

He certainly must be mizaru , kikazaru and iwazaru (See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil), when he has his Umnoputra brethren around him.

The Saint: There is no shame and harm in licking your masters' hands. After all, theirs are the hands that feed you. You claim that you have never heard of any of Umno leaders being racist?

Do you not remember what Hishammuddin said when he unsheathed his keris ? What about the Umno guys in Penang when they tore up the picture of Dr Koh Tsu Koon and uttered all kinds of racist remarks?

David: CSL, you really shouldn't say silly things like that, especially when just about no one respects you as a so-called leader of the Chinese. What is it exactly that you're trying to achieve? Surely you realise that you would be ridiculed by all and sundry for saying silly things like Umno is not racist.

Or you just don't care anymore, realising that your days as the figurehead of MCA are numbered. Or has shame become a foreign word in your dictionary?

Thuey: Chua is only stating his view on the matter. Why keep harping on his personal issue? Some of the greatest leaders of men are not entirely perfect. In fact, one of the greatest emperors of China murdered his brothers to be emperor. But history judged him to be one of the most enlightened ruler of all times.

Give Chua and Najib Razak some time to perform and judge them accordingly. Politicians tend to speak what the majority want to hear. The question is, what is the majority mindset of Malaysians now?

Baiyuensheng: I think CSL did the right thing in defending his comrades. That is the comradeship that needs to be played up in the BN.

Jeremy Tankh: As Dr Mahathir Mohamad once pointed out (and even wept over it), the Malay needed crutches, and still need all the help they can get. Only a small group of chauvinistic bigots keep shouting Malay supremacy but at the same time demand special rights to help them so that they can be better off.

How can you be strong and superior but weak and handicap at the same time?

Kunta Kinte: I believe everyone in Malaysia is racist, be it Umno, MCA, DAP or Gerakan and MIC. Since we are all racists and we knew it is wrong, let's start building an education system that is not racist. Hopefully in 20 years' time we'll have a truly one-race Malaysia.

Ferdtan: It is totally unbelievable that Dr Chua Soi Lek, the president of the second largest component party in BN representing Chinese, comes out with a 'not deep in thought' defence of Umno. When he made the statement, who are his target group? Most Chinese are very discerning when it comes to politics, so don't make a big mistake to take them as fools.

If you want to win back support from the Chinese - then start being honest, speak the truth and take them into your confidence. But there is no guarantee that you may not get yourself in trouble with your Umno partner. So, are you up to it?

Cala: To be fair to Dr Chua, MCA is such a minuscule party in the political landscape that whatever its president speaks carries little weight. What do you expect from a party whose size is only half that of DAP, or PKR. Everyone knows that it is the trick of the ruling elites to play on racial issues (as seen from the articles of Utusan Malaysia , an Umno instrument) so as to keep the ignorant Malays (though the number is decreasing by the day) warmed.

Meanwhile, the ruling elites continue to loot this country in big way, a fact not denied by Najib. If indeed the ruling elites would walk the talk, how then can one explain the bottom 34 percent of the workforce continues to languish in the past 10 years, earning as little as RM760 a month (a World Bank figure)? What has happened to the affirmative actions of NEP?

Kgen: It seems that CSL has never heard of ketuanan Melayu , a term invented by Umno politicians in the 1980s. In this information age, he has to do better than lie so blatantly.

Albert: CSL said that Dr Mahathir Mohamad is a senior statesman and that he respects his views. This Chua fellow is a bigger fool than I thought.

As the all-powerful PM for 22 years of this resource-rich country, why are there large number of poor non-Malays (i.e. Chinese, Indians, Ibans, Penans, etc) as well as poor Malays? How can Chua not know the current state of the judiciary, the police, the anti-corruption agency, and the Attorney-General's Chambers?

How can he not know the VK Lingam case, MAS, Port Klang Free Zone, Konsortium Perkapalan, etc? Why are so many of our bright children leaving the country? As an all-powerful PM for 22 years, do you honestly think that the 30 percent equity could pose a problem for him to achieve?

And what is Mahathir doing now? Creating racial disharmony whenever he opens his mouth and not helping at all to build a better Malaysia. Do you call this fellow a statesman?

CSL, do you understand the definition of ‘statesman' or are you just playing 10 cents politics?
