A banner, with the words "16 September: Selamat Menyambut Hari Malaysia dan Ulang Tahun Pembohongan Anwar Ibrahim ke Putrajaya" (September 16: Happy Malaysia Day and Anniversary of Anwar Ibrahim's Lies to Putrajaya) was among those being put up at the Merdeka Square in Kota Kinabalu for the Malaysia Day celebration today.

It was indeed an eye-catcher at the historical square, especially as Sept 16, 2008, was also associated with the promise made by the opposition leader to take his new government to Putrajaya.

The promise, however, was never kept.

So far, those responsible for puting up the banner remained unknown.

Sept 16 is a meaningful date for the country as on that date, Sabah and Sarawak achieved their independence with the formation of Malaysia.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was expected to deliver a special message at the celebration later today.
