Police picked up just after midnight last night the second suspect in the case of the millionaire from India who went missing in Banting, Selangor, this year.

The 21-year-old man was held in Kampung Laksamana, Batu Caves, near here at 12.15am, Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said in his Facebook page.

The arrest comes in the wake of the arrest of the first suspect, a 34-year-old man, in Taman Wilayah, Selayang, yesterday evening.

The businessman, identified as Allal Kanthan Muthuraja, was reported missing after he had flown in from Chennai, India, on Jan 18 for a meeting with a lawyer friend in Banting.

Muthuraja's wife, S Usharani, 24, lodged a police report in Banting on Sept 8 after learning of the murder of cosmetics millionaire Sosilawati Lawiya and three men near Banting.

Ransom demand

The two suspects are believed to be linked to a lawyer who is the prime suspect in the murders of Sosilawati, 47, her driver Kamaruddin Shamsudin, 44, lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, 32, and CIMB Bank officer Noorhisham Mohammad, 38, in Ladang Gadong, Tanjong Sepat, near Banting.

Sosilawati and the three men went missing on Aug 30 after they had gone to Banting over a land deal.

Police found out that they were killed, their bodies burnt and the ashes thrown into rivers near Ladang Gadong, and picked up eight suspects, among them two lawyers.

Meanwhile, police also obtained an order from the Magistrate's Court in Sepang to remand for a week two other suspects in an extortion case involving Usharani.

Both suspects are believed to have extorted RM100,000 from Usharani as a 10 percent advance of a RM1 million ransom to secure the release of her husband.

Magistrate Hurman Hussain issued the remand order to facilitate police investigations.
