The first draft of the 2011 Budget will be tabled at a special cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said today.

He said the draft contained, among others, suggestionsand feedback from government agencies, focus groups and the industrial sector.

It also contained evaluation by all ministries, he told reporters at the Tambun Umno Youth chief Aidilfitri gathering in Ipoh today.

husni eon bank function 120310 ahmad husni However, he said other inputs and suggestions would still be accepted and, if suitable, would be entered into the draft of the budget, which would be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 15.

Ahmad Husni ( left ) said the Tuesday meeting would also discuss the direction of the budget which was prepared for the first time based on the National Key Economic Areas (NKEA).

He said it included outlining the 160 NKEA sub-sectors such as oil and gas, telecommunications and information technology, education and manufacturing.

He also described the 2011 Budget as significant because its drafting and implementation were based on the government's efforts towards making Malaysia a high income country by 2020.

Meanwhile, the public are invited to Economic Transformation Programme Open Day at the Putra World Trade Centre on Tuesday.
