The Selangor DAP Youth committee yesterday decided to form a working committee to investigate the fracas at the Klang annual general meeting last Friday.
The working committee has been tasked to look into the reasons leading to the standoff, and in particular the status and validity of the membership list used at the AGM.
It will comprise of DAP Youth national organising secretary Teo Kok Seong, the wing's Selangor organising secretary Rajiv Rishyakaran and assistant organising secretary Edward Ling.
It was reported that the meeting
turned ugly
not long after it started, with verbal spats coming from opposing factions believed to be backing Pandamaran state assemblyperson and Selangor exco member Ronnie Liu (

Selangor DAP Youth deputy chief Cheong Siow Foon who chaired the AGM eventually postponed the meeting, citing numerous problems with the membership list used for the meeting.
In a statement issued today, Selangor DAP Youth listed three main reasons for the meeting's postponement based on the findings of a preliminary investigation, including claims that the membership list was not updated and members were not properly notified about the meeting.
It also found that there were an "unprecedentedly high number of delegates", and that the meeting's organisers were overwhelmed and unable to cope with the tense situation. Around 200 people reportedly turned up for the meeting.
Selangor Dapsy also denied news reports that chairs were thrown during the meeting.
"The individual who had threatened to throw a chair was not even a Dapsy member and had no right to be at the meeting. On top of that, a number of non-Dapsy members were present at the meeting."
It was initially speculated that the person who had allegedly attempted to throw a chair in anger was a former aide to Liu, although the latter has denied ties with the offender.
