Sentinel: Perkasa is the one making all the seditious remarks and yet it is the same party making a police report against Nurul Izzah Anwar for allegedly making seditious remarks. How ironic.

So this is Malaysia's double standard, business-as-usual style, despite a new IGP who promises things will change. Can we the rakyat believe it?

This is getting ridiculous. Are we not allowed to comment on the constitution in a constructive and civilized way? Where has freedom of expression in this country gone to?

If there is law to prosecute someone for making a prank call to the emergency lines, shouldn't there likewise be a law to deter and prosecute those making unsubstantiated and irresponsible police reports?

Are the police jesters who jump at just any police report every time it is penned down by anyone? Whilst people are being murdered in cold-blood practically everyday and the crimes rate is ever so high, our police force is busy harassing the opposition for the most trivial matters.

Ferdtan: Don't the police have a mind of their own? Do they have to investigate every police report, especially those made against the opposition?

If that is the case, how come we don't hear of instances whereby the police jump into action to investigate and grill members of the ruling parties and rowdy NGOs like Perkasa, against whom there have been many police reports made?

The police may claim to be doing their job to investigate a report made, but the rakyat doesn't see it that way - we see it clearly as a case of selective persecution. More so, it involves a fine daughter of the BN government's greatest nemesis, Anwar Ibrahim.

Similarly, Raja Azman, a son of Raja Petra Kamaruddin has just been acquitted of two charges of theft and breaking an entering as the prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case against him - meaning not enough evidence.

This makes us believe that the attorney-general and the police are only more interested to serve their political masters - to harass their opponents.

I think this is really absurd. Nurul merely stated the need to define clearly the contents and interpretation of the constitution’s Article 153 for the benefits of all Malaysians  since some individuals misuse it on the pretext of defending their race, in this case the complainant.

They do this all too frequently, and it is not doing any good to the nation. By right, the complainant in this report should be the one cited and punished for sedition and for being a threat to the nation.

We were hoping the new IGP Ismail Omar will make the change but so much for hoping for a difference. Sheesh. Have to check whether he is a lifetime member of Perkasa as well.

Nurul, don't despair, we know your intentions are well. It is the rent-seeking culprits that refuse to accept your argument since it defies their logic.

Baiyuensheng: Then all previous changes to the constitution are void as they cannot be questioned. How come Perkasa was not investigated for sedition? Economic Transformation Programme, my foot.

Maybe that is 1Malaysia’s definition of ‘extremism’. Everything is so fluid, subjective and nebulous that you can’t make any sense out of it.

Say one thing but do the opposite; call for national unity yet let some elements pooh-pooh it the next day and get away. It is like everything is falling apart and the chaos theory reigns supreme in this ‘1Bolehland’.

Clearly, this is an abuse of the criminal justice process. Is the so-called constitution so sacred, like the word of God, that it cannot be questioned? The constitution is made by humans so it can be questioned and amended to suit the times.

These people who make frivolous police reports should be charged for making false reports and wasting police time. It’s time to grow up, Malaysia.

I wonder the police force in Malaysia has any sense. Before they question Nurul on sedition, make sure they first arrest Ibrahim Ali who has been issuing all kinds of seditious and racialist statements.

Hey, IGP, you do not need to wait for any report against Ibrahim Ali, right? Then arrest him as he is a threat to national security and racial harmony. I have Chinese friends who were born here even earlier than Ibrahim Ali who’s out to secure cheap publicity.

Lurker: Nurul, you have my support because you are forward-thinking and think for the good of the nation. Perkasa and Ibrahim Ali should be detained for confusing the people and disturbing national peace.

Freemsia: The main reason Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa made this police report and refuse to go into a ‘constructive engagement’ on the interpretation of Article 153 is simply because Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa know that the current interpretation of 153 by Umno has been abused.

And this abuse of the interpretation of Article153 is enriching the Umnoputeras and a selected few elite Malays like Ibrahim Ali.
