The company which had given an eyebrow raising “donation” of RM4 billion to PAS has decided not to pursue a development project in Kelantan said to be worth RM313 billion.

This may effectively mean that the donation made to the political party on Sunday will be cancelled.

“So the project that we want to carry out in Kelantan is cancelled. We want to put an end to this chapter,” he told reporters when met at his office in Kelana Jaya.

He also explained that he had wanted to carry out a “development mega project” called ‘Seri Tujuh’ encompassing 376ha in Tumpat district in the state.

The project is supposed to include a theme park on the beach.

Abdul Rahim said that the RM4 billion “donation” was meant to be a goodwill token for the party to develop the state, after a projection of profits by I’da World Group.

utusan report on four billion donation to pas by ida world 220910 “When there are any joint-venture projects in any state, we will give 20 percent of the projected profits made by the company to the state government, while 80 percent will go to our investors,” he said.

With that, 20 percent of RM313 billion would amount to RM62.6 billion.

To that, he said that they would have eventually given RM62.6 billion to the state government, and that the contentious RM4 billion mock cheque was a “token”.

Abdul Rahim also said that the mock cheque was not dated, and no actual money had changed hands.

‘We’re sorry’

In a function at a five-star hotel in Kota Bahru, the company had given the RM4 billion mock cheque - written out to the Islamist party - to state MB Nik Aziz Nik Mat’s younger brother, Nik Din.

However, the state government as well as party leaders have been left red-faced over the incident, claiming that they are not aware of the company, nor its intentions.

They have also gone to the extent of blacklisting the company from future state government contracts.

To that, Abdul Rahim appeared resigned to his fate.

“I’m tired of all this. If (Nik Aziz) said that we’re blacklisted, what else are we going to do? So we’re calling all this off. We’re sorry. They said they don’t want it, so what more is there to it?” he said, appearing agitated at times in his dingy-looking office.

However, he said that he will continue his efforts to get other contracts elsewhere.

RM1.06 trillion projects?

The company had raised alarm bells when they had given the mock cheque to Nik Din, considering that they were only set up in 2007, according to the company website.

I’da World Group had then announced that they would be taking on projects worth RM1.06 trillion in the northern states of Kedah, Perlis and Kelantan.

Notable PAS leaders as well as state government officials have distanced themselves from the company following an outcry from several Umno leaders.

Even Nik Din himself told party organ Harakahdaily that he was invited in his personal capacity and was caught off-guard when the company had wanted to present the mock cheque to him.

While one police report have been lodged over the issue, the Kelantan state government has maintained its official stand of not having any links with I’da World Group.
