The government has yet to decide if it will sell its interest in Plus Expressways Bhd, said Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin.

Khazanah Nasional Bhd, a government-linked company, holds a direct stake of 16.74 per cent in Plus while UEM Group holds 38.51 per cent.

"There is no final decision. If there is any development, it will be duly announced," he said when commenting on reports that Khazanah Nasional was planning to hive off its stake in Plus.

He earlier officiated the two-day World Capital Markets Symposium in Kuala Lumpur today.

On the actual cost incurred by the Sarawak government in taking over the Bakun hydroelectric power project from the Federal government, Muhyiddin said the amount and the mode of sale would be announced later.

However, he believed the sale price would be reasonable and acceptable to both parties.

On suggestions to internationalise the ringgit, Muhyiddin said the government had no plans to do so, at this point in time, as it had to look into many things.

"Many issues need to be studied first as capital controls on offshore trading, implemented during the 1997 financial crisis until today, has paid off and has had a positive impact on the country," he added.
