Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, the complainant in the PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial had his Proton Waja car stolen last night.

He said the vehicle was a gift from his mother before she passed away in 2004.

He said the silver Waja was stolen in Lorong Medan Tuanku, Kuala Lumpur last night.

"I have lodged a report at the Dang Wangi police station and left it to the police to investigate the matter.

"I was out eating and when I went back, the car was missing," he told Malaysiakini, without wanting to divulge any further details.

"I pray to God and leave the matter to Allah," he added in his twitter message.

The former political aide to Anwar has been under the spotlight since 2008 when he made the allegation before the Permatang Pauh by-election.

This has resulted in the on-going sodomy trial of his former boss. Saiful had already testified as the first witness and had also been cross-examined by Karpal Singh.

Part of his testimony of the alleged incident at the Desa Damansara condominium was done in camera , and he, along with the DPPs and lawyers, had visited the scene.

The trial is scheduled to continue on Oct 14 with Kuala Lumpur Hospital doctor, Dr Mohd Razali Ibrahim, one of the doctors who had examined him, coming under cross-examination.

Saiful also embroiled in affair

The star witness and complainant was also allegedly embroiled in an affar with DPP Farah Azlina Latif, who was part of the Anwar prosecution team.

Since then, attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail had removed Farah Azlina from solicitor-general II Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden's team.

police take statement from karpal singh 010510 Both Farah and Saiful had not openly denied the allegation, although challenged by Karpal Singh to do so. The senior lawyer had also applied to the High Court to put the two on the stand but this was also rejected by High Court judge Justice Mohd Zabidin Mohd Diah.

Karpal ( left ) had also applied to strike out Anwar's sodomy charge on the allegation that the affair had compromised the prosecution's case, as there was a possibility of exchange of information between the prosecution and Saiful.

However, Justice Zabidin dismissed the application on the grounds that the affair had not compromised the prosecution's integrity.

Taken to the Court of Appeal on Sept 20, the three-man bench also rejected Anwar's appeal without  its merits being heard following the prosecution's submission that the decision was not appealable as it was made during the course of the trial.
