Hearing of three men charged with making false claims amounting millions of ringgit in the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) project has been postponed to Nov 8.

The Shah Alam Sessions Court judge Asmadi Hussin made the decision when allowing an application by counsel V Sithambaram who said that he received 101 extra documents on Monday.

Sithambaram, who is representing Bernard Tan Seng Swee of BTA Architect, said that he needed time to study the documents as they were technical in nature.

BTA Architect was consultant for the PKFZ project.

Counsel Hisyam Teh Poh Teik for Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB) chief operating officer Steven Abok said he too received the documents on Monday and needed time to study them.

Dzulkifli Ahmad, the head of the Forfeiture of Property Unit, Prosecution Division, Attorney General’s Chambers did not oppose the application.

He said the extra documents would avoid recalling of witnesses and assured that the hearing would begin as scheduled.

Another accused, KDSB former project manager Law Jenn Dong, 51, was represented by counsel Justin Wee for counsel Tan Hock Chuan.

Tan,48 and Abok,51, face two charges of cheating Port Klang Authority (LPK) of claims amounting RM5.42mil on July 31 and Sept 21 2007.

Tan and Law face 24 charges of making false claims amounting RM116.85mil to KDSB for two PKFZ projects between June 30 2006 and May 30 2008.
