The appointment of the Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah as the director of the by-election for the Galas state seat is appropriate and meets the wishes of the constituents there, said Umno Supreme Council (MT) member Ismail Sabri Yaakob.      

He said the appointment of the Gua Musang MP, popularly known as Ku Li, was also most logical in view of his record in politics besides his acceptance by the constituents in the area.     

He said the statement by Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat that  Ku Li was not an appropriate candidate to contest in the by-election for the constituency because he was a Member of Parliament and a former Cabinet minister as well as a member of the Royalty was totally unfounded.     

"PAS should be guided by history where many leaders in the Pakatan Rakyat such as Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim as well as former Perak Menteri Besar Mohd Nizar Mohamad also contested and became State Assemblymen and MPs at the same time," he said at a gathering with youth leaders at Dataran Laman Kerayong, Bera  today.      

Ismail Sabri said the provocative statement by Nik Aziz was unfounded because anyone could contest as long as they were accepted by the electorate who recognised their candidate's capability.
