Anonymous: Dear Lim Junior, why wait until next year? ‘1Malaysia’ says ‘Performance now’! Not next year. Not even tomorrow! Why waste time in a dying party? There is no future in Gerakan, take my word. Yes, it was a beacon of hope in the 1969 general elections.

So many pinned their hopes on this multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-cultural party. But along the journey it lost its ideals: everybody wanted to be leader and everybody wanted the goodies and comfort of an easy life.

Remember, three Penangites were fighting for the jewel in 2008 – the chief ministership; and practically the whole nation was watching the chief minister's lips. Who was his favourite son –  the blue-eyed boy – who would be crowned and ascend the Penang throne? The election results?

All three plus all the others were wiped out from the map of Penang! What a big blow it was. And what a shocking defeat it was. What went wrong? Even the CM lost at Batu Kawan (‘friendly stone’ but not so friendly). The Penangites are not fools: they know who can deliver their goods.

Inspektor Klueso: Just go and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. You did nothing for the people you allegedly represent. The crumbs and morsels left by your Umno paymasters enriched you, your father and relatives beyond what the commoners like us can ever hope for. Your cousin Michelle Yeoh at least made an honest living for herself.

Ayer Tawar: Lim Si Pin said that he simply wants to put an end to the dynasty speculations. Very smart excuse. The actual reason is there is no more power and ‘sweet juice’ left to inherit. Gerakan is doomed.

Would Lim Si Pin say the same thing if his father is saving the minister's seat for him and Gerakan was still in power in Penang? Let’s ask Chua Soi Lek and his son if they are willing to do the same?

Rolls-Royce: Sounds good, but it could also mean you have nothing much to look forward to anymore whether you hold any position or not in the party.

By the way, it would be better if you could disclose how much contributions the party has received from the public over the years and how much was actually given to the party and how much were siphoned off by individuals like the former president, president’s brother and perhaps you yourself. Righteousness, virtues, and accountability are not mere talk, prove it.

Cala: What is the boundary issue of a ‘Lim dynasty’? Lim Si Pin need not worry about the conspiracy theory. Given the current political landscape of BN where Umno dominates and dictates every decision, Gerakan has been reduced to a minuscule party of irrelevance.

The truth is, Gerakan has no more role to play after the March 8, 2008. A ‘Lim dynasty’ would have effect if the father-son team had power in their hands over certain tangible or intangible resources of the party. As a failed political party, however, the whole theory falls into pieces when there is no more resources to control.

Alan Goh: At least Lim Si Pin has the courage to make the right decision so as not to be accused of building a Lim dynasty in Gerakan unlike Chua Soi Lek who unashamedly submitted his son’s name, a first-term MCA MP, to be a deputy minister. Another person is that son of the ‘apa nama’ who was made a deputy minister despite losing the Umno Youth elections.

Anonymous: All the above comments made me sick. Baseless accusations, baseless presumptions, baseless assumptions, baseless attacks and biasness. And all these are made without a context in mind, making credibility go down the drain.

Before finding fault with others, look into yourselves first. Make constructive comments. Don't be a keyboard warrior. Be intellectual and make yourself useful by doing something instead of whining.

Lim Chong Leong: Si Pin, just admit it. Without your father there pulling the strings, you are nobody. It is better to quit now than to be proven to be a father's son.

Lucas: He should resign now and let his deputy youth chief to take over. Why wait until 2011?

My Secret: I feel he is sincere about this. The last general elections was an eyeopener for the Junior Lim with regards to the BN ‘principle’. He has to allow Senior Lim to ‘jalan’ first before he does. Good luck and fight the people’s fight on your own terms.

FTR: Don't bluff, Si Pin. The next thing is you will be saying that the grassroots want you to be the president and you can't resist the grassroots urging. This kind of bluff is typical of the BN people who learned it from Umno who in turn learned it from S Samy Vellu and the MIC.

Mike: Gerakan is a splinter party of the MCA. If such is the mentality of its Youth, it is better to disolve Gerakan and let its Chinese members rejoin MCA and make it (the MCA) a bigger party to serve the Chinese community.
