MCA: We are loyal but won't blindly follow

Rolls-Royce: Dear Chua Soi Lek (CSL), do you want to know why MCA representatives in Pakatan Rakyat-controlled states can't behave like the opposition and can't raise issues of substance?

You see, CSL, MCA has never had the right political DNA. The party is essentially a towkay party from inception and members and representatives are basically there for business connection and to enrich oneself. How many of your members and leaders are genuinely concerned with societal issues?

For example, you keep insisting on the abolishment of 30 percent bumiputera equity participation. That is a lousy and stupid strategy because you are creating unnecessary tension without making any difference. What is wrong with Malays owning 30 percent or even more equity? The issue is, who among the Malays own this 30 percent equity?

The issue is corruption, poor governance and abuse of government-owned assets. If the system does not change, even Chinese holding these positions will also abuse their power.

Albert: MCA president Chua said: "We have been perceived as a party that has been unable to voice out the aspirations of the community".

I totally agree. For the past 50 years, MCA did not act effectively (on behalf of the Chinese interest that they are supposed to represent) on the blatant abuse of Article 153 (i.e. civil service, scholarship, permits, education) by the Umno-led government.

In implementing Article 153, didn't the Umno-led government include other government-owned institutions, e.g. scholarships offered by GLCs (Petronas, Tenaga), statutory bodies, state government, education, Tenaga Nastional University, Mara, etc? Do we even need to mention the civil service and permits (APs, taxi permits)?

From the viewpoint of any sane individual or any religion that subscribes to the principle of fairness, the current practice by the Umno-led government is morally wrong. But did MCA do anything?

Joe Lee: Too much corruption and no transparency and accountability - all of these apply to Umno and MCA (and Mickey Mouse MIC and soon-to-vapourise Gerakan). Why would anyone with half an intelligence vote for these jokers who have, with Umno in the lead, raped and plundered the country's wealth?

There is no need to be loyal to Umno. Just be loyal to the country, and that means no corruption on your part.

Democrat: MCA, MIC and Gerakan allowed Umno and the government to make 650 amendments to the federal constitution since 1957 where now the original constitution only bear a biased mirror of its original model.

You stood by while Umno turned Malaysia into an Islamic state with built-in apartheid and racism. It is too late. The damage has already been done and Malaysia is on its way to becoming failed state.

Najib: Chinese not 'pendatang', but loyal citizens

Malayamuda: It's no use coming to a Chinese gathering and telling the Chinese what they already know. It's the Umno fools who do not know this. So will you, PM Najib Razak, repeat this at the Umno annual general assembly?

Maggie Lim: Start by arresting those Umno members and principals with racists remarks and then maybe you can convince us. Otherwise, forget it.

Close call for Teng at Gerakan EGM

Ponto: The results of Teng Hock Nan's political survival with the ‘close call' at the EGM clearly indicates that the house of Gerakan is in deep turmoil and total disunity. The rudderless boat, helmed by Koh Tsu Koon has lost its bearing and is floundering in stormy weather and at its imminent stage of total disintegration.

Contrary to norm, opportunist Koh would be the first to jump off ship in hope of being rescued by BN goons and leave the rests on board to meet their doom. The political upheaval in the party is the sole result of Koh's weak and ineffective leadership when his attention is mainly focussed on taking care of only himself as a federal minister.

Koh should heed the silent calls of the majority in the party to abandon the sinking ship immediately before its breakup in order to pave the way for a capable leader to arise and re-direct it to safer waters.

Anonymous: Gerakan Youth, if you can't vote Teng Hock Nan out, then you guys must resign since you can't accept what he's implementing.

Passing Cloud: Whatever the result of the no-confidence vote against Penang chief Teng Hock Nan, the condition of Parti Gerakan remains critical in the eyes of Penangites. The only thing obvious now is that it has been further torn asunder, rendering its condition worse than before.

Short now is its prognosis. Numbered now are its days.

Delegates: 'Victory' despite failure to remove Teng

David Yee: Gerakan is currently a party dying for the rakyat's affection and not receiving any in return at this point in time. Reason? Because the members are more keen to gain from being part of BN and politically-dead leaders enjoy being revived as backdoor ministers.
