PAS will announce its candidate for the Galas state by-election on Oct 24, the same day BN is expected to name its candidate.

Kelantan PAS election director Abdul Fatah Harun told Bernama the party was now scrutinising the list of candidates.

"We plan to announce the candidate on the same day with the BN to provide a level playing field for all," he said.

PAS vice-president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Mat indicated today that an Orang Asli was among the candidates proposed to the party's leadership.

Meanwhile, Abdul Fatah said PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat would be launching PAS election campaign on Oct 19.

The by-election is called following the death of incumbent assemblyperson Chek Hashim Che Sulaima of PAS on Sept 27.

The nomination day is on Oct 26 while polling is on Nov 4.
