The case where police personnel were believed to be involved in stealing the syabu seized in the country's biggest raid in Rompin last year is an isolated case and does not reflect the overall image of police personnel, Pahang police chief Sharifuddin Ab Ghani said.

He said the case occurred due to greed of certain policemen.

"We have standing instructions and regulations that should be adhered to, but this thing happens due to greed," he told reporters in Kuantan today.

He said the investigation papers on the case had been submitted to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further action.

He was commenting on the remark by judicial commissioner Akhtar Tahir recently that the court received reports that several policemen had admitted to stealing the drug.

Akhtar made the remark as he acquitted and discharged lorry driver Lee Yong Toe, 48, of trafficking 753,359gm of drugs at KM 3, Jalan Cenderawasih, Rompin at 6.45am on May 2 last year.

Earlier, Sharifuddin witnessed the handing-over of duties of Temerloh police chief from ACP Ahmad Fadzillah Mohamed to ACP Mohd Nor Mansor, 56.

Mohd Nor, who is Bukit Aman management department appointment assistant director (audit II), was appointed as the new Temerloh police chief, while Ahmad Fadzillah - who accidently caused hurt on his friend while hunting at the Kemasul Forest Reserve in Lanchang on Sept 18, would take over Mohd Nor's duties.
