The sodomy trial of Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim resumes today with Kuala Lumpur Hospital's general surgeon Dr Mohd Razali Ibrahim to bring the preliminary medical examination report of the accuser, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

azlan Razali revealed yesterday during cross-examination by lead counsel Karpal Singh the presence of an initial medical report signed by the three doctors, Razali himself included, who had examined Saiful.

The other doctors who examined Saiful were forensic pathologist Dr Siew Sheue Feng and specialist surgeon Dr Khairul Nizam Hassan.

After examining Saiful on the evening of June 28, 2008, all three signed the report.

However, the report was not produced by the prosecution. What was produced was the final medical report dated July 13, 2008.

Karpal has requested the preliminary report in order to know Saiful's medical history and the detailed examination made on him.

The July 13 medical report contained only two lines describing Saiful's medical history.

An Utusan Malaysia photographer who took a photo of Kuala Lumpur Hospital's Dr Siew Sheue Feng - a witness - was escorted away by a police officer.

Anwar's expert witness Dr David Wells and Dr Brian McDonald arrive.

9. NONE 03am: Defence lawyers Sankara Nair and Param Cumaraswamy, along with the prosecution team are meeting Justice Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah (left) in chambers.

9.05am: Anwar arrives with his daughter Nurul Nuha.

9.16am: The lawyers and DPPs are still in chambers, waiting for Anwar’s lead counsel Karpal Singh to arrive.

9.18am: All parties have emerged from the chambers.

9.24am: Court is now in session.

Lawyer Ram Karpal tells the court that Karpal has severe diarrhoea and is getting a medical certificate. Karpal has also undergone a blood test for suspected dengue.

Mohd Yusof says the prosecution has no objection to a postponement, as it was already aware yesterday that he is not well.

Justice Zabidin says the other defence lawyers will have to conduct the cross-examination tomorrow, if Karpal is still unable to be in court.

The hearing is adjourned to tomorrow.
