New Straits Times led with United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s statement that Malaysia is a model nation to the world, and that the US stands behind Malaysia’s moderate stance.

Star headlined that the Kedah and Perlis governments are scrambling to send aid to 19,000 people hit by flash floods.  

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia front-paged the worsening floods in Perlis, Kedah and Kelantan, causing the closure of schools, airports and universities.

It also featured news on a demonstration of 200 people against Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, protesting against his government’s policies which affect land and business.    

Berita Harian gave prominence to news that Clinton is confident that Malaysia can be a thought leader in the Muslim world, and a model nation for all.

 

Sinar Harian led with Lembah Pantai parliamentarian Nurul Izzah Anwar’s opinion that her father, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, is a tremendous leader surpassing others in the country.

Chinese newspapers

Oriental Daily News and Nanyang Siang Pau front-paged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s call for China investors to come help in developing Malaysia’s economy.

China Press front-paged yesterday’s protest outside the Penang Assembly, where a protester locked himself to the main gate.

Sin Chew Daily front-paged Najib’s statement that without the Chinese, there will be no future for Malaysia, as they are the main pillar of the country's economy.

opined that the Association of South-East Asian Nations’ (Asean) inability to resolve the haze issue shows that it must move faster to push for legal authority to act or it will only be a diplomatic show.
