Sankara: Wrong to dismiss possibility that Anwar will be freed
It is up to the court to decide whether or not jailed former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim (

) will have to remain in prison until 2009 to serve his sentence for sodomy, said his lawyer Sankara Nair.
Sankara (

) said while Anwar's supporters may be hopeful that the court would accept his application for bail pending his appeal, it is wrong for anyone to dismiss the possibility that his client may be freed on April 14 - the day when his six-year jail term for corruption ends, factoring in the one-third remission for good behaviour.
