'Some voters in Galas and Batu Sapi have sold their souls for a few hundred dollars. It is a sad day for democracy and a sad day for Malaysians.'
Simpang 4: Congratulations to the victors, and for the losers, work harder. Pakatan Rakyat has to study the voters' preferences and try to turn of tide. Don't whine and look for scapegoats. PM Najib Razak is doing all the right things and he is winning hearts and minds.
WanM: With these two wins for by-elections, BN should be comfortable to go for the general election. After all, Najib knows very well these two wins are surely showing public confidence in BN. Why delay? Announce it and set the date soon.
Do it quickly so that you can be rightfully elected and not be in your office by default because you were DPM when Abdullah Ahmad Badawi resigned.
Lim Chong Leong: Some voters in Galas and Batu Sapi have sold their souls for a few hundred dollars. It is a sad day for democracy and a sad day for Malaysians. More of our billions will now go into BN/Umno cronies' pockets.
Tired: Congrats to BN, and to PKR and PAS, try again. Win some, lose some, that's the name of the game.
There is no need to accuse the victors of any wrongdoing and hanky-panky. It looks like the reign of Be-End (BN) will not end that soon as predicted by many Pakatan supporters.
Putrajaya seems to be getting farther and farther away from Pakatan. But continue to dream for at least you can sleep more soundly.
Monsterball: It looks like Sabahans are still living with fool's dreams. But in football terms, Pakatan is still leading with 8 wins against BN's 5.
Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: People of Galas and Baru Sapi, you deserve the government you vote for. Now reap the fruits of the seeds you sowed, but if the blood-sucking government you empower hereafter reaps you, then don't say you weren't warned.
Brown envelopes provoke suspicion
Anonymous: So the Election Commission closes one eye to Umno distributing money to voters in the presence of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah. But when Nik Aziz Nik Mat gives zakat, it is vote buying.
Allan Kong: The difference in BN doling out RM250 is that PAS gave openly to people who had to return from far to vote and was transparent about it, while Umno is up to their well-known style of giving in secret. The devil likewise works in the dark.
Dha: The Perkasa idiots should also make a police report on this. Where are they? They only see fit to lodge police report against Nik Aziz, claiming that he was offering bribes when in actual truth he was distributing alms to some Orang Asli folks. Perkasa does not know how to differentiate between bribe and alms. And they call themselves Muslims.
More allegations of vote-buying emerge
Kazakh: My take - BN wins because the voters take the handouts. Smart voters. This ‘buy-election' is not one that will make any difference to the balance of power, so they might as well take the money and enjoy the sideshow the BN and Pakatan are staging.
It would be good if this is wrongly read by Najib and he decides to go for an early general election. I am sure in the general election, the voters will show their fangs and sink them into Najib and BN's throats.
James Ridley: You cannot be rich and happy with the handouts. The voters of Galas and Batu Sapi have failed the nation. But you have one more chance - the upcoming GE13. Change is what we need for a better and fair representation in our future of our government and I see that only in Pakatan.
Ric: "When approached by reporters, Galas BN director and Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh refused to comment on the goings-on in the makeshift room."
No comment doesn't mean it never happened. Shame on you.
Is violence PAS culture, asks Muhyiddin
Anonymous: Muhyiddin Yassin, the answer is ‘no' for PAS but ‘yes' for BN.
See what you guys did to the TBH (Teoh Beng Hock) group, your Tanjung Karang division chief threatening the Sekinchan rep, etc, etc. Surely as DPM, you are very well informed that this violent culture is part of BN culture, not PAS.
R Venugopal: The DPM is very fond of avoiding problems and gives no good solutions but always prefers to change the rules to aggravate the situation. I think Rosmah Mansor will make a better DPM as she is firm and consistent in what she does.
Teh Kee-Keat: Dear Mr DPM, we cannot ascertain the role of violence in the electional struggle of PAS just because one of your party officials has been injured in an untoward incidence involving an unidentified troublemaker.
However, we certainly felt the violent potential of Umno when the recently concluded AGM of your party was addressed by someone calling for the "defence of Putrajaya at all costs - even if bodies were crushed and lives lost".
