Selangor opposition leader Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo was admitted to the Selangor Medical Centre (SMC) in Shah Alam this morning for suspected dengue fever.

The Sungai Panjang assemblyperson was admitted to the hospital at 10am after complaining of fever, headache and shivering.

His wife Zaharah Kechik, when contacted by Bernama , said fearing for his health, she straightaway brought him to the medical centre to be examined.

"The doctors suspected he had come down with dengue and had him warded," she said.

Mohamad Khir, a former menteri besar of Selangor, was unable to attend the state assembly sitting today because of the development.

Meanwhile, the assembly, when told of the development by Yap Ee Wah (BN-Sungai Pelek), wished him a speedy recovery.
