Nurul Izzah Anwar has maintained her position as the frontrunner for the PKR vice-presidency with 11,042 votes, with just one last round of voting to go.

The updated election results comes after party members in Selangor, the state with the highest number of party members, voted for the central party leadership over the weekend.

azlan For the deputy presidency race, it is inevitable that incumbent vice-president Azmin Ali will win the race and has thus far garnered 14,751 votes.

His sole competitor, Mustaffa Kamil Ayub, has only 3,401 votes after an average turnout of 8.4 percent.

The final leg of voting this weekend will see further voting in Selangor, Sarawak and Johor.

Final results will be announced at the party’s annual congress which starts on Nov 27.

No increase in complaints over elections

Party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that there were no increase in the number of complaints over the central leadership elections forwarded to the election committee.

“Since last week until today, only six complaints on the elections for the central leadership have been made,” he said in a press conference in the party headquarters in Petaling Jaya this afternoon.

He also said that close to 90 percent of all the 289 complaints on the divisional elections have been solved.

NONE “But we have responded to all of the complaints,” Saifuddin ( centre in pic ) said, adding that he hoped that voting in the final 57 divisions will go on without a hitch.

When asked to respond on Mustaffa’s memorandum sent to the election committee last week, Saifuddin also echoed the need to provide more explanation over the allegations of malpractices and fraud in the party elections as outlined in it.

However, Saifuddin refrained from hitting out at his party colleague, saying that Mustaffa should know how things are run in the party elections.

When asked about Mustaffa’s claims that there is a perception there wasn’t a clear separation of roles between the the party secretariat and the election committee, Saifuddin remained mum.

“Mustaffa is a very senior member in the party. He is a vice-president, a member of the political bureau, a member of the party’s management committee. He is a member of all these very powerful committees.

“He knows how it’s run,” said Saifuddin.
