Terengganu is to organise a sex workshop to spice up the marriages of elderly couples, officials said today.
A total of 300 couples are due to participate in the workshop, which comprises a series of courses related to sexual health and intimacy, said the state's family development foundation director Mohamad Shafaruddin Mustafa.
Among some of the highlights would be the use of therapy and supplements to heighten sexual intimacy, how to maintain good hygiene and educating participants on different kinds of sexy apparel, he said.
Sharafuddin said most elderly couples had strained relationships, and many even slept in separate bedrooms.
"This is unhealthy as elderly couples could still continue to have vibrant intimate relationships," he was quoted as saying by the Star newspaper.
The workshop, which kicks off tomorrow, would include talks by medical professionals and therapists.
Malaysian society is largely conservative, with discussions on sexual health and intimacy still frowned upon especially among older people.
