The Asean Muslim Youth Secretariat (Amsec) today called on all Muslims to fast on Thursday to protest against the United States invasion of Iraq.

Amsec secretary-general Salahuddin Ayub also called on Muslims to intensify prayers against the governments of US, UK, Zionists and their allies.

In a statement today, Amsec also urged them to intensify their marches in all Islamic cities and capitals.

"We appeal to Muslim people to start a strict boycott of American and British goods. We ask all Islamic governments not to offer any services to the American and British enemies that would facilitate their war on Iraq," he said.

Amsec also urged the Islamic government to close down embassies and consulates of the US, UK and their allies.

Alert

Meanwhile, the PAS Youth international bureau also condemned the aggression on Iraq.

Its secretary Raja Ahmad Iskandar Yaacob said that it was no longer a secret, that the goal of that aggression was not to disarm Iraq of mass destruction weapons nor to topple the regime, but to occupy Iraq and to be in command of its people, land and wealth.

"Consequently this aggression would not stop at the borders of Iraq but rather would proceed to others and maybe targeting countries supporting that aggression," he said in a statement today.

Raja Ahmad urged Iraqis to remain steadfast in resisting the invading forces and to emulate the spirit of the Palestinians who bravely resisted Zionist occupation despite having limited arms compared with their aggressors.

"We assert the importance of defending Iraq and its people and at the same time invite our ummah to remain on the alert because the Zionist might exploit the US invasion to carry out plots against our people in Palestine," he added.
