The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today recorded a statement from Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to assist in the investigation on the cost for the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Yayasan Selangor (Selangor Foundation) which was said

to exceed RM300,000.

An MACC official recorded Abdul Khalid's statement at his office on the 21st Floor of the State Secretariat Building in Shah Alam, lasting 30 minutes.

"I am giving my statement to the MACC in their investigation into the Yayasan Selangor case," Abdul Khalid was quoted on his website.

The anniversary celebration of the foundation drew public attention when the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, cancelled his plan to attend the function because he was unhappy over the cost which was said to be exorbitant.

Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Noh Omar had earlier claimed that the cost for the celebration exceeded RM800,000 and part of the amount had been paid to a company which was awarded the contract to organise it.

Media reports earlier stated that the MACC had sealed several files and documents from the Yayasan Selangor office at Amcorp Mall in Petaling Jaya.
